About the Events
In 1971, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) experienced multiple overlapping wars: the international war between India and Pakistan, the civil war between East and West Pakistan, and the often overlooked mass killings of Biharis.
About the Collection
From 2021 to 2023, the Citizens Archive of Pakistan, a not-for-profit organization operating in Pakistan, recorded 87 oral histories of Bihari survivors. In 2025–2026, these testimonies were archived, transcribed, and translated into English through the Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Studies (MAHG) program at Stockton University, preserving them for researchers and future generations. These are their stories.
